My name is Emily; I am 54 years of age and have been a practising registered nurse for 33 years. In December of 2010, I slipped on a wet floor whilst at work and as a result sustained an injury to my lower spine. I was initially unfit for work for approximately 3 months and since that time I have been on a graduated return to work plan. I am passionate about my nursing career and my goal has always been to return to full pre-injury duties - I must say that the road to full recovery has been long!

It was my very good fortune to meet Karen Wood after being referred to her for an Exercise Physiology program in August 2012. Karen introduced me to exercise, she gave me the knowledge and skills to perform a home-based exercise program focussing on my core strength, and maintaining my spine in a neutral position. We had weekly meetings to assess my progress and to introduce new exercises. Karen's guidance, positive approach, enthusiasm and positive feedback encouraged me to work hard. My progress was really good and I could feel myself getting stronger.

Karen inspired me; I wanted to achieve each goal that was set and by December 2012 I was ready for a gym-based program. Though I had never used gym equipment before, Karen always made me feel good about what I was doing and we had fun along the way. Even though it was tiring at first, the results of the 3 month gym program set and assessed by Karen was really starting to pay off. My fitness and overall strength was improving quite rapidly. Karen's energy and obvious passion for exercise encouraged me to want to do more. Each time we met my progress was evident. Karen's kind and generous nature made her a pleasure to be with and as such her positivity and encouragement spurred me on to achieve the desired results. The skills that I now have, thanks to Karen, will benefit me for the rest of my life, and my goal of returning to pre-injury Nursing duties in now a reality.

The program with Karen has been very worthwhile and was of great benefit to me. Her professionalism is outstanding, she is fair and genuinely wants the best results for her clients. I cannot thank her enough for the time, skills and friendship that she has given to me.

I first started training with Karen about 3 years ago when, after having my second baby, I wanted to lose weight, tone up and gain some general fitness. When I started with Karen, I had never trained and was too self conscious to go to a gym. Over my training time I have definitely gained confidence, changed my body shape, lost a few kilos and am now the fittest I have ever been (yes, I actually do enjoy exercise…I never thought I would say that!). Karen is knowledgeable, professional, fun, energetic and motivating. I have always found our workouts to be challenging and full of variety, where Karen is the right mix of being tough and pushing me, through finding out how I feel and what I can handle that day. I have always found her to be warm, caring, easy to talk to and genuinely happy for me when I achieve my goals. I would recommend Karen to anyone!

I have trained with Karen Wood for more than 6 years, having met her at the excellent and creative fitness classes she designed and ran at Spirit Gym, Byron Bay. The hour a week I spend with Karen keeps me on track with my overall fitness and wellbeing program. It is varied and interesting and Karen is always sensitive and alert, positive and encouraging. I have referred friends to her and it has been helpful to discuss the rehabilitation program of my mother who recently had a knee replacement operation. 

Karen is knowledgeable, analytical, practical and caring and in my opinion, is very suited to working in the health care field, preventative, rehabilitation or in any other capacity. Anyone would be extremely fortunate to have the opportunity of working with her.

I have known Karen Wood for over a year and was recommended to her by my doctor after previously having a stroke.  I have found her to be extremely good and very professional while working on my inner core strength. She understands my physical capabilities, inabilities and weaknesses, as I am a Vietnam Veteran. My fitness has improved dramatically due to her caring and understanding techniques. Karen does not give me any exercise that I am incapable of performing. I would recommend her to any person of any age group.

I started training in December 2011 as I found to motivate myself to get to the gym or do any training was close to impossible so I sought the help of Karen.  I have been working with Karen for just 6 weeks now and I'm already feeling a difference in my body.  Within the first two weeks I lost 2kg and 2cm off my hips and thighs.  Woohoo!!!

Karen is extremely attentive throughout the entire workout helping me get the most customised program I can get. She gets me motivated even when I don't feel like working out.  She is very professional, and most of all makes working out fun.  Karen has a great energy and that has been a big part in helping me get results so soon.  

Along with Personal Training sessions, I am also having 1/2hr G5 sessions with Karen twice a week and getting results.  I'm over the moon with the outcome so far, as the cellulite has reduced dramatically and I can finally wear shorts and not be paranoid about it.  I would recommend the treatment to anyone.  I was that impressed with the G5, I purchased the hand held G5 so I could use it at home.

So far I am very happy with my progress and it's only going to be better.  I have no hesitation recommending Karen to anyone looking for a Personal Trainer.

This year I made some healthy life changing choices. One of these choices was to include more exercise in my life. I have always enjoyed exercising but felt as though I was stuck in old routines that were not entirely beneficial. Thankfully my GP sent me along to see Karen Wood. Seriously, I have not looked back...

After evaluating my strengths, weaknesses, exercise likes and dislikes, Karen then tailored a program just for me! All individual. None of this getting down and doing what everyone else is doing which is what I dislike about a gym environment. The regime Karen devised for me is simple, subtle and strong. Having trained with Karen for over a month now, I am noticing significant and positive changes to my posture, strength, stamina and general wellbeing. Lookout, I think I am getting fit!

My heartfelt thanks Karen for helping me to get motivated, stay motivated and to reach and exceed my fitness goals, whilst maintaining my sense of humour...
